JOIN US! for a month-long series of events celebrating Womxn’s* History Month!
*The spelling womxn is used to respect the dynamic and fluid nature of gender identity and expression and to be inclusive of all people who identify as women in today's times.

March 1 to March 31, 2025
WOMXN’S HISTORY MONTH is celebrated at Rider as a cultural celebration in March to heighten awareness of the accomplishments and contributions of womxn in America and globally, as well as those on Rider’s roster of students and alumnae. In 1978, the actual celebration of "Women’s History Month'' grew out of a weeklong celebration of womxn’s contributions to culture, history and society organized by the school district of Sonoma, California. This was followed in 1980 when President Jimmy Carter issued the first presidential proclamation declaring the week of March 8 as "National Women’s History Week." The U.S. Congress followed suit the next year, passing a resolution establishing a national celebration. Six years later, the "National Women’s History Project'' successfully petitioned Congress to expand the event to the entire month of March.
