Westminster Choir College of Rider University and Kemp Endowment for Church Music invite you to the 2025 Kemp Church Music Symposium!
Spend the day with the faculty of Westminster Choir College. Session subjects will include choral techniques, handbells, new repertoire for your choirs, Worship planning, and, of course, a Hymn Sing!
Donald Nally. Visiting Artist-in-Residence at Westminster and conductor of the Westminster Choir, Donald Nally collaborates with creative artists, leading orchestras, and art museums to make new works for choir that address social and environmental issues. He has commissioned over 180 works and, with his ensemble The Crossing, has produced thirty recordings, winning three Grammy Awards for Best Choral Performance, while nominated eight times. He has held distinguished tenures as chorus masterfor Lyric Opera of Chicago, Welsh National Opera, Opera Philadelphia, and for many seasons at Il festival dei due mondi in Spoleto, Italy.
Gillian Erlenborn is the new conductor of the Westminster Choir College Handbell Choirs. She is a proud alumna of the Westminster Concert Handbell Choir, ringing under Kathy Ebling Shaw and has received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Westminster Choir College. As a handbell clinician, Gillian travels throughout the country to share her expertise in using handbells and handchimes in the music classroom.
Vinroy Brown is a member of the performance studies faculty at Westminster Choir College, where he conducts the Westminster Jubilee Singers and previously taught African American Choral Literature and in the Baccalaureate Honors Program. He was most recently a Lecturer of Music in the College of Communication & Fine Arts at Loyola Marymount University where he developed their inaugural course in music and social justice.
Tom Shelton is associate professor of Sacred Music at Westminster Choir College. He teaches classes in conducting, sacred music, music education and conducts the Rider University Chorale. In addition, he is the director of Children's and Youth Choirs at Princeton United Methodist Church and conducts the Princeton Girlchoir Semi-Tones Ensemble.
Steve Pilkington is an associate professor at Westminster Choir College, and has taught every aspect of the church music curriculum for twenty-five years. His teaching is known for its breadth, depth and creative attention to the complexities of making sacred music in postmodern times. His lecturing has taken him from Korea to Oxford University. He has been Director of Music and Organist at Christ Church, United Methodist in New York City for over two decades.

From the NJ Turnpike: Take the New Jersey Turnpike South to exit 7A (I-195 West). Follow I-195 West to Exit 60-B for I-295 North toward Princeton. Take Exit 69-B off of I-295 (formerly exit 7A) to US Route 206 South (Trenton). Rider is a quarter mile on the right.
From Route 1 South: Take the exit for Interstate 295/Interstate 95 South (sign says "To Pennsylvania"). Bear right at the junction, following signs for I-295 South (Pennsylvania). Take Exit 69-B off of I-295 (formerly exit 7A) to US Route 206 South (Trenton). Rider is a quarter mile on the right.
From South Jersey: From the Garden State Parkway: take Exit 98 (I-195 West). Follow I-195 West to Exit 1B for I-295 North toward Princeton. Take Exit 69-B off of I-295 (formerly exit 7A) to US Route 206 South (Trenton). Rider is a quarter mile on the right.
From I-95 North: Take I-95 north from Philadelphia to I-295 North and continue over the Delaware River into New Jersey. Take Exit 69-B off of I-295 (formerly exit 7A) to US Route 206 South (Trenton). Rider is a quarter mile on the right.
From the Pennsylvania Turnpike: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike East to the main Philadelphia Exit 351 and follow the signs to I-95 North. Continue on I-95 North to I-295 North, straight over the Delaware River into New Jersey. Take Exit 69-B off of I-295 (formerly exit 7A) to US Route 206 South (Trenton). Rider is a quarter mile on the right.
Venue Parking: Free parking is available in the open lot directly behind the Fine Arts Center. Access to Gill Chapel is available from the rear of the lot.
Accessibility: Guests can enter through the front entrance, accessible from the parking lot, and can use the ramp to get to the main floor where the sanctuary is located.
