Program overview

The public advocacy minor equips students with the tools needed to create and deliver messages that influence public opinion and drive social action. Students will study the principles of advocacy, social justice and public relations, applying them to real-world issues. This minor prepares students for careers in political campaigns, nonprofit work, community organizing and other advocacy roles.

Minor requirements

The 12-credit public advocacy minor provides students with the knowledge and skills to advocate for social change through communication. Topics covered may include the principles of public advocacy, the role of media in social movements, and strategies for developing and executing advocacy campaigns. Students will also explore how communication can advance social justice initiatives, influence public opinion, and mobilize communities for collective action.
