The persuasion and speechmaking minor emphasizes the development of persuasive communication skills, focusing on the theories, strategies and techniques necessary for effective public speaking and argumentation. Students will engage in both theory and practice, refining their abilities to persuade and inform audiences across diverse settings.

Minor requirements

The 12-credit minor focuses on the principles and practices of effective persuasion and public speaking. Students will engage with rhetorical theory, argumentation techniques, and strategies for delivering compelling speeches. Coursework emphasizes both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of persuasive communication, including speechwriting, debate, and critical analysis of influential discourse in public and professional settings.
